Pillow Fit & Adjustments
What if I’m not happy with the firmness of my pillow?
We want you to love your Ogallala pillow, and shopping online can be tricky. We will adjust your pillow for free within the first 30 days to help you get the best night’s rest. Please see our pillow adjustment services for full details.
My pillow is not as fluffy anymore. Is there a way to fix this?
Down has natural enemies, including humidity, lotions, hair conditioners, and perspiration. If your pillow or comforter seems flat, clumpy, or separated, moisture or oil may be robbing it of its original loft. Laundering the product may help clean it and restore fluffiness, although results are not guaranteed. We offer a professional laundering service, or you may follow our at-home care instructions.
Comforters & Duvet Covers
Do I need to put my down comforter in a duvet cover?
Yes. It may be tempting to use your comforter without covering it, but it needs protection. A duvet cover acts like a large pillowcase for your comforter and helps keep the “loft bandits” — oils, moisture, lotions, and everyday wear — away from the down. Improper care may shorten the life span of your product and void guarantees.
How do I figure out what size duvet cover I need?
We usually recommend choosing a duvet cover that is about 2–4 inches smaller in length and width than your insert. Your comforter should be slightly larger than the duvet cover, which helps prevent shifting and gives the finished bed a fuller, more luxurious look.
- Duvet covers typically shrink between 3–5% once washed.
- We recommend 100% cotton or linen duvet covers for breathability.
- Ogallala comforters include corner loops, so we recommend a duvet cover with corner ties.
Do you have duvet covers you recommend?
Yes. We recommend choosing a breathable, natural-fiber duvet cover made from 100% cotton or linen. For luxury bedding that pairs beautifully with Ogallala inserts, we often recommend brands such as Libeco, SDH, House of Lyria, and Orchids Lux Home. We always recommend checking finished duvet cover dimensions before purchasing.
Hypodown® & Allergies
What does fill power mean?
Fill power refers to the size and loft of the down cluster. The larger the fill power number — such as 600, 700, 800, or 900 — the higher the quality of the goose down. Higher fill power typically means the product is warmer, more voluminous, and more durable.
Fill weight or firmness refers to the number of ounces inside the product. For example, two pillows may have the same firmness level, but an 800-fill pillow will generally appear more voluminous and hold its shape longer than a lower fill power pillow. Can people with down allergies use Hypodown®?
Hypodown® was created specifically for customers who love the comfort of down but are sensitive to traditional down products. Our signature milkweed fiber helps trap and suppress allergens commonly found in down, creating a naturally hypoallergenic sleep experience. If you have severe allergies, we recommend reviewing materials carefully and contacting us with questions before ordering.
Is your down RDS certified?
Yes. Ethically harvested goose down is very important to us. Ogallala Comfort uses European RDS-certified down, and animal welfare is an important part of our mission and message.
Care & Laundering
Can I launder my Ogallala bedding?
Yes. We recommend having Ogallala Comfort professionally launder your bedding whenever possible, but we also provide at-home laundering instructions.
How often should I launder my pillow or comforter?
This depends on use, climate, and care. As a general guideline, pillows should be professionally laundered every 3–5 years, while comforters typically need laundering every 5–8 years. If your bedding begins to feel flat, clumpy, heavy, or less lofty, it may be time for a professional cleaning.
